God’s Power

Have you noticed all the extreme weather events going on all over the world? We don’t watch the news much so I can’t say if they’re covering it or not, but we follow a lot of channels on YouTube that update pretty much every day what’s happening in every corner of the world and it’s just phenomenal to see. In my quiet time this morning, I read Psalm 29 and it is just so beautifully descriptive about the power of God. Check it out: (Emphasis mine)

The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea.
    The God of glory thunders.
    The Lord thunders over the mighty sea.
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars;
    the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf;
    he makes Mount Hermon[b] leap like a young wild ox.

The voice of the Lord strikes
    with bolts of lightning.

The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake;
    the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks[c]
    and strips the forests bare.

In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”

10 The Lord rules over the floodwaters.
    The Lord reigns as king forever.
11 The Lord gives his people strength.
    The Lord blesses them with peace.

Did you catch all that is attributed to the Lord and His voice? Remember He SPOKE the world into existence, He declared His divinity with His statement “I AM,” and here again we see that He controls all things by simply speaking! Wow, that’s incredible to think about!

I just thought I would share this Psalm with you today and point out the fact that even when things in nature are going crazy, we can rest assured that the same God Who calmed the wind and sea is the same God Who controls all these events today. And there’s great comfort in knowing that even though He possesses all this power and might, He loves us enough to speak softly in that still, small voice and remind us that He is our Shepherd and He will take care of His sheep. We also need to remember Ephesians 1:19-20 ” 19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. “

We have this same power made available to and alive in us, through Christ. The only proper response is to honor and worship His holy name. GLORY!!!!!

    Beautiful analogy of how you see our all powerful God, who alone is so powerful and is yet kind and loving at the same time. What a refuge we have in Him!!!! God Bless You.
